Ma. Teresa's father was Liberato Delgado and her mother was Mariana de Salas.  Her paternal grandparents are Francisco Delgado and Maria Dolores Medina (Delgado); her maternal grandparents were Josef Rafael de Zalas (Gomez) and Maria Diega Padilla (Aguiree). She had a brother and four sisters, named Jose Donaciano, Ma. Bartola, Ma. Atilana, Ma. Pilar and Regina.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
