Maria Romana was born on March 7th, 1862 in Malpaso de Villanueva, Zacatecas, Mexico and her baptism took place there on March 7th, 1862.^1 2

Maria Romana's father was Atanacio Ramirez and her mother was Deonicia Medellin. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Gregorio, Antonio, Jose Maria, Jesus Antonio, Ma. Estanislao, Florentina, Matiana Epefania and Petra.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
