Maria Refugio was born on July 3rd, 1887 in San Felipe, Cuquío, Jalisco, Mexico and her baptism took place there on July 3rd, 1887.^1 2

Maria Refugio's father was Florentino Delgadillo and her mother was Maximilliana Rodriguez.  Her paternal grandparents are Norberto Delgadillo and Refugio Mora; her maternal grandparents are Bacilio Rodriguez and Zenona Agudano. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Jose Pedro, Jose Ynocencio, Maria Margarita, Maria Antonia, Juana and Prudencia.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
